Summary

Plot: It's about two best friends, Tamio and Takashi. The development of a friendship to something more as they grow up.

Living his life in rural Japan, Tamio is immediately intrigued by Takashi, the blond haired city boy who transfers into his elementary school. But Takashi is actually half Japanese, and despite his appearance he doesn't even know English and loves eating Japanese food even Tamio can't abide.

Tamio and Takashi become friends, and despite his perplexity with Takashi's foreign appearance, Tamio quickly develops a strong attachment to the other boy. Tamio earnestly hopes that he and Takashi can stay friends forever. But Takashi remains dissatisfied with life out in the boonies, insisting that someday he's going to leave all this behind.

Yet Tamio continues to hope and to do anything he can to ensure that Takashi will stay with him--or take him along--no matter where he goes in life, with an intense, endearing, wistful sincerity perhaps telling of sentiments more complicated than Tamio might think.

I think this was rather cute. It shows their relationship starting from a really young age to young adults. I thought they were romantically together by the end (b/c of the kiss and promise to stay in their home town), but that extra chapter (Textbook of Love) was sketchy. I guess the mangaka was showing a moment of weakness in which after Takeshi learned his lesson, he went back to Tamio 9^9 Well either way (best friends or lovers) you get the feeling that they will be together forever~

Urgh rereading this again and still cried I love this manga very much though I prefer reading those with beautiful drawings. This manga is so sweet yet sad becuz of Tomio's unrequited love and ugh taka shi is so slow to realise!!!! Although I'm not really satisfied about the ending as there's no much progress in their relationship so I feel that sth is missing. I really feel very bad for Tomio though :(

      A kiss is not enough!!!!!!

      Don't worry, it didn't stay unrequited ;)

It looked so promising, the style looks great and I loved the splash pages. At first there was a story but it all dwindled to awful slapstick and women here are portrayed as something evil or dumb.

I just stopped, it was that awful for me.

Though women are evil and dumb. Well, they can be, I mean.

@ Yaoi is my food : Dont generalise, I can same thing about men, being evil and dumb is not specific to one gender. While in some yaoi manga they have females as the evil character its not true for all.

The main character is really annoying, i don't like him or this story much cause it doesn't really add up, and its all over the place but it's pretty funny-ish.

The story was pretty much all jokes, not yaoi sadly, more hints of shounen ai. Then again the author was never straight forward in making their love mutual. Sure Takeshi said they were dating but there were no signs of more than friends or cohabiting in college etc. so I am sad for Tamio who has to put up with that. After all mutual love is great but if Takeshi is half-hearted then I don't know. I wish the author had just thrown in some sort of I'm scared of sex and a short like hinted sex scene or something where I can be assured that they had sex and are together together. She does hint at the perspectives of gay but never really defines it clearly etc and still Takeshi never clearly reciprocated his feelings, more like went with the flow.

OMG it just goes on for-eeeee-veeeerrr in just rambling and stupid situations....no plot whatsoever.

    • Guest ;) said at February 22, 2014 4:27 pm

This is 'Slice of Life' genre. Not just 'Shounen-ai'. There is no continuous plot, just snapshots of these two young people's lives.

  8. Anonymous said at May 17, 2013 5:29 pm

    Is it yaoi?

    • Yaoi is my food. said at November 3, 2013 12:01 am

I hope so, other than that I wouldn't be trying to read it.

    • Guest ;) said at February 22, 2014 4:31 pm

No, just shounen-ai. SPOILER: the farthest they show the two getting is a kiss (she draws it from a distance too) XD

Takashi is such a little shit I can't even LOL. But at the same time, Tamio is the cutest little angel, so it's okay.

Even though I am a person who usually judges stories on their art, this was soo cute. not yaoi though, but who cares :)

  11. Me^^ said at May 14, 2013 8:02 am

does it have a sex scene?? i mean i like to see them get together.:) its kind of funny

    • Yaoi is my food. said at November 3, 2013 12:04 am

If only shounenai's had hot sex scenes... Then I would be complete. But that negates the whole genre system, it would then be classified as a yaoi. But yaois can have plot too and hot sex. The best ever!

The art is somewhat simple and there aren't really a lot of smexy scenes - but the story is full of slice-of-lifey goodness and leaves me with a warm feeling inside after reading.

    • Guest ;) said at February 22, 2014 4:35 pm

Yessss~~~ it leaves a warm feeling at the end even if the relationship is not fully defined. You get the feeling they will be together forever (whether romantically or not).

It remind me a manga that I read but unfortunately I forgot the title> I've been looking for it, with no success! It's the story of two boys from elementary school til their death! About 60 chapter long, one of them was almost rape by his teacher with the help of a little girl in elementary school.

Complex maybe? the author is manda ringo

    • Anonymous said at May 13, 2013 7:59 pm

The manga u mean is Complex

It's really interesting! There's bits of angst, comedy, unrequited love, jealousy, friendship, family/school situations, strong characters (personality-wise), etc. It's sort of a 'coming-of-age' story. The manga's slow-paced (for me, at least) but bitter-sweet and highly likable. If you like 'realistic' stories that follow the characters for years (childhood to adolescence) then read this one! Please don't pass up on it due to the art. It'll grow on you.

I actually really kinda liked this... I mean the story lines kind of cute and it's funny. It an older manga so it's not my favorate drawing style but it growing on me. Plus it's got alot of stupided humor that could happen in real life but mostly wouldn't kind of thing. It's good. Cheek it out.
