Honestly, I feel like they might chear with other people again in the future. Nonetheless, I have enough faith in them that they're going to have a good relationship in the long run. I really liked the main story, mostly because the writing really draws me into that passion and lust. Even the idea that they were carrying on like that while being involved with other people actually adds an exciting element of the forbidden into it.
Cheating is wrong, and it's not meant to be justified here, but meant to illustrate how much they had gotten caught up in their own feelings (it's essential to the story). It's only when their emotions catch up to them do they get scared (and embarrassed) and then respond by completely withdrawing from one another.
I'm glad they found each other again, when they were older and could have a fresh start.
