What is the real reason?

SugarCupcake December 5, 2014 8:34 am

What I want to know is the real reason why all of her mangas have short chapters now... VF, 10 pages at most and this 4 pages? A weekly manga has like 20 pages at most... and this mangas comes out in 2 to 3 months. Is she ill? family problems? but the thing is, every human beings has problems but they still do their jobs. Is it the publishers request that she lower the pages? but isn't to much? I wish there is an explanation on why she only has this kind of pages. As a reader and have no experience in working as a mangaka, I see this kind of work as being lazy. I know there must be a deep reason why this is happening but I can't help but think that she is being lazy. I feel like if I buy the volume when it comes out, I am going to be rip off because of the pages count.

The real reason? Not only did her father, one of her biggest supporters, die, she has been ill herself, has moved to a new home and has been away on a book signing tour. If that is being lazy, then I challenge you to be creative and focused under that much stress. I am an artist myself, and was hospitalized with depression for six months after experiencing similar problems (though is was not my father who died). The problem with some people is that they are self entitled and think that artists live only to please their fans and do not have their own personal problems to deal with. Have some bloody compassion!

I know all those reason already and that happened sometime ago. She is not the only mangakas that have this kinds of problems, in fact all humans go through tough times in life. What I don't understand is, if she is depressed, why not take a long break and come back. Saying she is ill does not justify because she obviously think that it does not matter since she stills work. A lot of people go through tough times. My mother died because of an illness but did that get in the way of how I live my life everyday? No, because if I feel depress and make myself exhausted I am pretty sure my mother will not like it. Life is tough, work is hard, everyone experienced that and not just a single person.

Seriously though, in general, it could be anything. I'm really not sure right now, we could make a bunch of theories, but it should be left like that at this point. I think we'll have to wait for her to write a note in the next volume.

Though this time, the 4 pages probably has something to do with the fact that she caught a pretty bad cold in late October and she's still fighting it, and just went to Sweden for a bunch of signing, Q&A and a drawing session. I can confirm this happened, I can't say it definetively happened, I can't definetively say it was the reasons for that 4 page chapter. It's just a guess. Same for the 5 pages one, she moved in her new house that month.

This manga, while it comes every two months, she probably work each of them only one month. Because she has two bimonthly mangas to take care of. And seriously, her editors might have something to do with it. There's also someone that mentionned that most mangas in Be-boy gold didn't have too much pages either nowadays, can't really confirm this but it can make sense. But seriously, compare it to monthly mangas instead of weekly; the matter is just that they have more quality since they have more time. Though they usually near 30 pages, it's just that those people work more slowly, which isn't a bad thing. There's weekly mangakas that deliver though, no denying that.

Seriously, lazy, no. We all can have our problems, but seriously an artist being downright lazy, I haven't seen that too much (at all, at least successful). She's not even rich, she's lost money on some months because she doesn't produce that much and she has to pay her assistants' wage. More so, it's her work of a lifetime, read by so many, I'm sure she wants to do the best work she can. Sometimes it's just best to slow down to give more quality, though that's going to be an opinion matter. Or her life has jus been hectic, which is the idea I get when I see her twitter. She seems to have had a blast in Sweden, and it's good to see her excited after all she's been through ^_^

I think the volumes will just have more chapters. So they'll come out later is what I was thinking.

But seriously, art to me is just about giving your all, and then not fans demanding all the time and feeling fan entitlement bs, but fans supporting by buying it if they love it. Really, there's a ton of other things to do than judging or getting upset on someone you don't know on how she does her work. Even if you'd be excited to have more, that's just how it is.

Bleh, I love writing too much x)

The issue with that is money. She can't take breaks forever. Sheesh, she has bills to pay, and money don't come flying from the window. She took one for many months, now she's working the best she can. Simple as that.

Be glad that we got at least that much of pages rather then nothing at all! Who knows: she might even stop this series. Some Mangakas did that.

The person asking isn't psychic. They didn't know. You didn't have to be so mean. A lot of mangaka's keep their lives private. How would you know all of these things???

Well, the information has been going around a lot.
And it's mostly coming from her twitter. She doesn't keep her life as private as many, and most of the time it's just random stuff like sharing pictures of her cat, but basically all misekatte mentionned was in there. And as you can see, Ayano doesn't really talk about her actual work, so we're left to wonder on that until the next volume in which she may be talking about it (in the volume 7 of Viewfinder she talked about her father's death and how it affected her and her work).

Lately, she posted loads of tweets about her trip in Sweden. It's pretty cool :)

You follow her because you are obviously an avid fan but how about people that have no care about every single thing she does and when I went to her twitter I could not understand a single thing. Although I know the reasons that she had personal problems but it has been over a year already. She needs to make it clear on what is the real reason why her mangas have less than 10 pages. Just give an explanation, no matter what kind of reason it is, it will be understandable, no complains whatsoever. Just don't make people wonder why and make people mad because of it.

Bills to pay? Dude, don't compare her to you or me who needs to earn hourly. Even though she does not work for awhile money will come flying to her because she has volumes of VF and CS that are selling domestically and internationally.

It is so obvious that you will do everything just to protect her because you are a fan. Fans like you can't see the point. You only think that she is the god. You have to be open minded towards other people. You can't push your belief towards others.

I'm not thinking she's a god at all, if that's the case then at least half of humanity is a god to me. I just think we should give her the benefit of the doubt. I mean look at her, she just looks like one of those so sweet and honest persons.

    Slice of life:
There's that one person I know who is so tackltless, she hurts people without realising it with her jokes. Myself included, I had that one night when I just couldn't believe it, she hit hard on my past issues I'm just trying to forget, though she didn't know about them obviously. She's actually one of the most complexed person, and she ended up recently losing 5 persons in her family that she held dear. Her work has been suffering and all that. She was asking why she should even live, and her boyfriend said for him. She was outraged, and finally answered she wanted to live for herself and build up her own happiness. There was also that girl she found crying in the bathroom, even though she didn't know her one bit she just hugged her and the other girl was crying while saying "thank you, thank you!". Never saw something so touching, she's my god (:P) and made my day *_*
Even though she's still as tactless as ever aha. She does try to be as strong as she can, and she can really pull it off then break down again. I only get to know it months later though.

Bottom line, it's just one of many tidbits of my life that made me that I never liked to think of people in a bad light, there's usually way more to them that they just hide and I ended up in the past to more than one time realizing it too late.

You can go ahead and push your belief that she's a lazy uncaring author who sits on a pile of money and now just doesn't want to do good work. Just isn't the impression I get, wathever is the issue right now, and being open-minded to that sort of thinking isn't going to help anyone. Why the circle of hate and frustration. And unlike you, most don't want her to take a break and love the work she's doing right now.

I could argue more about what you just said, but seriously, it would seemingly be yet another waste of time. It's just that you asked for reasons, no one has the real one, and you don't seem to want to hear out the possibilities.

I was just wondering if you ever read this one:
    http://www.mangago.me/home/mangatopic/624106/
Sob stories aside, she seems like a great person.

See? I am right. You see her as your god because of how much you are defending her when you don't even know the real reasons too.

She is not the only person that have loss someone she loved. Every freaking humans on this Earth losses someone they loved and cared for.

Like I said before, she needs to make some kind of explanation on why her works have few pages.

Read my main post again over and over and you will get why I said lazy. Stop being blinded by that word and argue with me about her being lazy. Read it again and again and hopefully you will get it. If not, then you are a very close minded person.

Well, you don't even know the reasons yourself, and also seem to be stuck up on thinking of her as lazy. I don't see the open-mindness here that you're accusing me not to have.

What I actually meant is that she's a sweet person, while I don't really believe she's being lazy, even if she is I couldn't care less, everyone has their faults. And really, there's people out there not as strong as you, and she said she had the regret of not being able to make her father, her biggest support, happy, which makes me believe that there was more to it. Everyone has their story, I don't want to assume I know hers and push the ideal that she should be able to just suck it up because everyone lives shit. Doesn't work like that most of the time.

I won't respond anymore. We just have different life experiences to base ourselves on, and just wanted to share a piece of my opinion. No need of accusing me of being close-minded or seeing her as a god; I didn't realise I was the one asking for reasons. Take it or don't.

Well, that's the first idea anyone would have, it's kind of easy to see it like that. I was just trying to think out of the box here, and all of the sudden she was my god :P
But hey, I'm one of those who don't get mad from the short chapters. Guess that helps. Instead I'd just be snowboarding or cooking or doing wathever else, there's so much more I could entertain myself with instead of being frustrated I didn't get 2 more minutes of reading. Though I'd love to have it anyway aha.
Also, I think at some point I confused what you said with another post. Didn't re-read it too much.
