Near at the start of the book, Eren was injected with something by his father saying he'll save man kind, a sin that his father has done when Eren was young.
After Eren turned into a titan Levi and Erwin said his father was gone and couldn't be found. All Eren had was a key to his basment where his mother was killed. Now with the new update, his memory was returned and the truth about his father and that his father wasn't hiding but he was killed.
Hope this makes sense ....

I don't think Eren meant to "kill" his dad.
He didn't even remember, it seems. I think that after his father injected him
with that fluid, he must have turned into a titan, but gained special talent through eating his dad.
Whether he didn't mean it or not he still killed his dad. His father knew was going to happen and how life would end by injecting Eren with the fliud. I don't think the special talent would be gained by eating his father. Erens father would always be in his basment, why? Who knows but it seems he's been planning this for a while I assume. So what he put in that fluid caused Erens power and what I think, his father might be experimenting or close research on titans. I bet he's been planning this for a while, even before the fall because his father knew it will work when it's close to the fall.
