dude bara is under the yaoi genre - it's a subcategory. Just like shota.....
For the record, yaoi is a subgenre of the josei demographic, geared toward older women. Shotacon is a subgenre of both ecchi and yaoi, though both genres respectively have their own unique and overlapping ways of dealing with the theme. BARA is geared toward men, and is in no way related to yaoi, which, again, is beneath the demographic of josei. That being said, the only thing that trips people up is that they both feature gay male relationships, which is what ken's frustrated comment was referring to. It comes out of a Western ignorance to associate them in anyway just because they're both homosexual oriented.
Yall need to chill lmao they dont even fucking use the term yaoi in japan so this term is pretty much irrelevant if you want to get so technical about it. Also, who gives a shit. bye
mmm yaoi, bara, shota...love, romantic, sex, hard sex... i really dont care, there are two guys that love each other or have sex... i just love it.... but i question myself, it's really necessary say things with so much hate.. i think its ok that you dont like something but you can say it in other way.. i don't know, maybe more civilized?.. :D make love not war ... peace, love and a lot of boys love/sex
"they dont even fucking use the term yaoi in japan" - Actually, they do... here's one example where you can hear it said multiple times:

"Japan uses the term yaoi to denote dōjinshi and works that focus on sex scenes."
