Nothing ugly about bara! In fact, they're more real than yaoi. Yaoi characters are so effeminate 'cause they're both drawn by women mangaka and often addressed to girl readers, not so much to gay boys. So it's expected of them to make their bishounen to look like Tinker Bells...

Indeed. This doesn't mean there aren't any poor quality bara manga: sometimes the mangaka exaggerates the muscles so much all his characters look like bodybuilders on steroids... that's equally unrealistic.
