This is just my opinion, so please don't be mistaken that I intended to hurt or offend anyone's opinions. Basara is actually different other shoujo mangas and I like it very much. There are times when I'm just so enthralled by Tamura Yumi's mangas with their unique, structured, mind-blowing story. I love the art. The main reason why I respect this mangaka is because of her dedication and hard-work put into the mangas I read from her.
But they are just not epics to me. Maybe epic some ways, but not something I find perfect. From time to time, I found several things so unappealing.
i.I don't dislike Sarasah, rather sort of admire her. I understand that in order for to be strong and create a nation, one should have strong allies and that they should rely on them at times. But I don’t get it how anyone can be a great leader s/he trust his/her foes’ words so easily just because they recall something bad.i.e. Sarasah trusts Mizu no Shika’s words, when she go to Hokkaido- Abashiri Jail-and meets Kaze no Fukuro, Shuri’s doppelganger and cousin. Some may argue that ione of Sarasah’s strength is her kindness. Or that because Fukuro looked like Shuri, she felt empathetic to him. Or because that she went through so much things in a short period of time, from Ageha sacrificing himself for her to losing Hayato. Even when there is only 0.00001% of chance at all time, many successful leaders in history always had his/her mind prepared. It is not the case with her. She is too quick to trust others and when she distrust someone’s intentions (like with Asagi) she’s 94% of the time accurate. I don’t get how she is the child of destiny when she was just lucky to have (unrealistic) allies who share the same mentality (very ethical) as her and are 100% loyal to her. In real life, you need to be tactful in trusting others other than just trusting their words and action they present to you. From beginning to end, Sarasah remains the same. I don’t feel like she learned anything other than for some few common and basic leadership skills. Maybe I misinterpreted the meaning of the child of destiny which is to be kind and right all time and to have endless opportunities.
ii.Other thing is that I find it pretty unrealistic how in the world, like how you-Arizel the awesomeness- mentioned how did the world (in the early 1990s when the author created this manga) which changed to 15th century. Why are there slaves? Why are their rulers? Why are women still being oppressed? (even Chacha was discriminated because of her gender) I get that Japan, even this era, is pretty discriminate toward females and the minority (like the Korean-descendents in Japan and non-Japanese) But how did Japan, one of the leading country economically? People’s ideas and beliefs changed to that which belonged to the feudal times. But I don’t think the change is to an extent where things go back to the (that good without learning anything) feudal times. People have witnessed all these political struggles and still give into having kings over them, exception to Okinawa.
iii.Out of all, the thing that annoy me the most out of all what I mentioned above -not only in Basara but in all Tamura Yumi’s mangas – good people’s words are so effective that they are 91%% of the time powerful enough to change how someone feels. I believe words are powerful, but not all the time by a person to all people. The reason why I get annoyed is that the people around me and I don’t get inspired to change just because there are people who tell us this and that. Some of us did change over a period of time and some didn’t. But none ever did so quickly to change and remember those who said those words to us.
I understand Basara and 7 seeds when the creator was still young and she, probably, had to cope with her editor’s and fan’s expectations just to put food in her table but still managed to put a lot of effort. I like this manga a lot. In fact, thanks to her, I was inspired to continue one writing my sci-fi novel. There will tons who’ll criticize my work.

I guess but that doesn't mean I was accurate and plus I like to see strong female protagonists that are not native
