Illegitimate children more than likely wouldn't be recognized or acknowledged. Even without this tradition, upper-class families don't tend to acknowledge illegitimate kids.
Just want to put it out there...but wouldn't there be a whole lot of 'unoffical' relatives out there from the many generations of men who 'married' but then had a woman on the side... seriously flawed in that sense.
I also felt sorry that Shinji didn't have a choice on getting married. His mum needed the pole up her butt removed. What's with all the women in that family being emotionally challenged??
