One of the more anime-deserving BL out there, with a mix of romance, action, and attitude. Features a very blunt, very lovable and sexy uke, and a level-headed, but undeniably emotionally invested seme. The dynamic between the two is surprisingly explosive enough to be memorable and unique, but episodic enough to be a classic worth rereading and animating! A must read for BL genre addicts.
This mangaka rocks. Her stories are always so good and adorable. I could re-read her stories many times without getting bored. I still get the same reaction every time, fangirlling at the same part! Oh gosh. <3
I WISH THIS MANGA WILL NEVER COME TO AN END ..... THIS IS THE CUTEST MANGA EVER! please update faster...... i'm dying to know what happened next..haha, #yaoiaddict
This whole series was really damn good. Aki was so freaking adorable! I’m going to miss is “yo” Plus they should make a side story about sempai to see how things progressed with the insurance guy ;)
It took me three tries, but I finally through this. It's a slice-of-life story about a hot-tempered but loveable yakuza and the mild-mannered cop he falls in love with. This manga has a lot of good points: likeable characters, some fairly funny scenes, a couple who thoroughly enjoys having sex with one another, actual bisexual characters (!) - good vibes all around.
It is not, however, the mangaka's best. It's biggest problem is that, for such an long-running series, there is really very little character development or plot, which makes it a slog to get through. Every volume has roughly the same formulaic structure, with little progression or variety: couple has a self-contained problem (either random mishaps or men angling to break them up), they overcome the problem, an overload of affection ensues.
This is not in and of itself bad, but the length of the story stretches beyond what the substance of the story can sustain. There's nothing wrong with feel-good repetitive fluff, of course, but without a larger plot or world-building (or even character development - the main couple, after they get together in the beginning, don't really learn or develop very much at all), it can become tiresome if you want anything more out of a manga than a lot of cutesy romance.
So my recommendation is save this one for when you're in the mood for tooth-rotting sweetness with a bit of comedy thrown in, and only read a few volumes at a time. It's the kind of thing you can pick up and put down without having to catch up, since nothing really happens. But it is nicely drawn, and (for the most part) doesn't have anything approaching non-consensual sex (there is a little sexual harassment from third parties, and the occasional "I am going to stick it in!" "oh nooo! that feels so good! don't!" kind of thing, and some drunk sex). Don't do what I did and binge-read it hoping it will develop some larger plot; save it for times when you feel like turning your brain off and reading something that will make you feel good.
Why do both the cop and the yakuza look like they're young teenagers? LOL It really threw me off while I was reading at first, and the seme seemed to gradually get slightly buffer as the story progressed. Either way, this is now one of my absolute favorites now!
