I have to admit that despite the obvious problems with this one, it was pretty entertaining. It was the first time I read through 200 chapters that quick without getting bored, not even when it was near the end (I usually lose interest when the couple has already ended up together). There was so much drama and chaos (definitely too much), but I guess that’s what kept me hooked.

So let me start with the good parts: The characters are actually very alive. They are all very interesting and have their own quirks. I love how the popular boys are so weird and dorky, and I love how strong the main character, Tsukushi, is when she finally decides to stand up for herself. I have to say that I was sure she would end up with Rui, but was suprised to find out Tsukasa was the actual love interest. And if you overlook some very BIG and OBVIOUS problems with Tsukasa, his and the main characters personalities go really well together. Although it was unexpected, it was actually refreshing. I love that Tsukasa is such a simple-minded idiot that loves to brag, and I love that he has a hairstyle like that.

And then let’s not forget the bad parts: Tsukasa, despite being fun and a bit “cute” sometimes, is violent and toxic. He does get better towards the end, but there are some things that are hard to and shouldn’t be forgotten. Like how he in the beginning tormented people for fun, to the point of them having to quit school. And how he has almost no conception about what consent is. And how he slaps Tsukushi TWO times. These parts makes me so frustrated, because without those flaws I would’ve REALLY loved this manga. I mean, the F4s could’ve been just regular bratty, rude, rich kids without being sadistic freaks. Also, there were some times when Tsukushi was acting really frustrating, but I guess that’s not THAT big of a problem compared to the other things.

Still love it so much, the lead is so powerful. Also for anyone who didn't grow up in the 80's - early 2000s, be wary cause this is deeply problematic. It was the 90s (and early aughts!) We were in the trenches...

So, an old mango I just went to read now. Honestly, I hated that. Put guys who act like it's the last drop of water in the desert and a girl who goes against these idiots but ends up getting involved with them. I couldn't get past the first volume because I wanted to preserve my sanity.
But I liked watching her stand up to the guys and even kicking one in the face. (I even know who she stays with at the end and that's one of the reasons I don't want to read anymore)

To think this is where it all started. I can see the reflections of all the different BOF from this. It always annoyed me how Makino never gave in to her female pleasures though. And how we never got to see them live a happy peaceful life. Also that haircut is really annoying. 4* because the translation were awful and the strips were out of place sometimes

I mean while it IS kinda uh… messed up (let’s say it like that) at the beginning, it’s such a classic and inspired not only shoujo manga but also so many dramas. I LIVE for the Korean adaptation bc it has Lee Minho starring as ML. The manga is also so good I’m probably gonna try to collect it lol

really didn’t like the FL at all. Made me want to punch a hole through the screen. Story was long and FL and ML’s relationship keeps breaking and coming back. Some parts randomly gets cut off and switches to another timeline. Overall, I think it had pretty good plot? Just that it was frustrating to keep reading on because of the FL… And also at the beginning it was about the red card bullying thing but as FL and ML began falling for each other, it kinda strayed but I guess that’s because FL changed ML? 2/5 recommend. These are just my opinions when reading this manga.
